About Percy
The same description in three lengths. Use whichever fits.
One line
Percy is the garden journal that remembers, so you can enjoy your garden. You just talk to it.
Short
Percy is the garden journal that remembers, so you can enjoy your garden. Gardeners tell Percy what they planted, ask a question, share a photo, or mention the hummingbird that just flew by. Percy remembers all of it, connects it to the weather and to where the garden is, helps gardeners learn from their own history, and at the end of the season gives it back as the Migration Report, a designed year in review.
Long
Percy is the garden journal that remembers, so you can enjoy your garden. Built on a simple belief, that the experience of having a garden is as worth remembering as the things you grow in it, Percy lets gardeners capture a season by talking, the way they’d tell a friend. It holds plantings, harvests, problems and small moments side by side, connects them to daily weather and local ecology, flags native and invasive plants in the US, UK, Canada and Australia, and uses the gardener’s own history to give advice that fits their garden. At the end of each season, the Migration Report turns it all into a designed year in review. Percy is an independent company and a member of 1% for the Planet. It’s free for a gardener’s first growing season, then US$39 a year, on iPhone, Android and the web.
Fast facts
Founder
Brian Eden is the founder of Percy and an executive creative director. He has gardened for more than 20 years, starting with a few terra cotta pots on a city patio; today it’s raised beds, fruit trees and a pollinator garden where a stand of invasive privet used to be. He has been a serious photographer for nearly as long.
He once planned a whole season on graph paper at a table on the Santa Monica boardwalk. By summer the notebook had stalled, and the moments he most wanted to keep, like a hummingbird hovering in front of him, never made it in. Percy is the journal he wished he’d had. The story behind Percy →
“Every fall, I had a record of what I’d planted, but almost nothing about what it felt like to be out there. That’s the part I built Percy to remember.”
“I wanted the hummingbird to be a season highlight, just like the day I harvested my tomatoes.”

Migration Report
At the end of each season, Percy turns a garden’s notes, photos and weather into the Migration Report, an interactive year in review. The first reports arrive in January 2027. These screens come from a real one.

Why “Percy”?
The name started with perceive: to notice carefully, to pay close attention. It also holds a perch, where a bird lands and goes quiet, and Persephone, whose story is the turning of the seasons: she leaves and winter comes, she returns and the garden wakes up. Percy keeps a garden through the dormant months and brings it back with the spring. And it’s a good name for a bird.
